Default ls1 steering columns

Hey does anyone know if there is a difference in steering columns from an f-body with a six speed trans vs. an automatic? im looking for a column for my 98 ss, along with the matching bcm. If anyone has one they'd like to get rid of, let me know. Thanks

The only difference is the key cylinder.

The way I did it was I put the other column in my car and used my key cylinder so I didn't have any problems with the vats. But either way you need the right key cylinder for your car

Or just get a new key cut for the new column. The cylinder doesn't read the pellet, the BCM does.

What about the interlock that captures the key until the car is in park on an automatic. Is this mechanism installed in the manual column?

no, the manuals have a button you press to release the key.

can i remove the ignition set from my manual column and put it in an auto column without having problems with the interlock? my car is a manual, but i found an auto column with bcm for cheap. also will an 00 column plug directly into my 99 body?
