Default Power steering pump keeps failing

OK, I think this will be the 4th time the power steering pump will have had to be replaced on my 2000 SS.

This time it leaked fluid all over my alternator and it caught on fire.

They have been replacing it with a part from NAPA. Would it be better to go with the GM part?

Does anyone else have constant problems with this thing leaking? Or am I just getting parts from a bad batch or something.

Its very possible something is coming apart inside your steering gear contaminating the oil with metal that then ruins the pump. I would carefully flush everything and try again, if the 1st pump failed and put trash in the system the new pumps are going to fail too. yu could install a returnline filter from NAPA to filter out the garbage too. good Luck
