Default Baby cam only-First ET's (STOCK converter)

I've owned the car 4.5 years now, and hadn't been to a drag strip in over 3 yrs before last night. The last time I went, the car was basically stock (lid/cutout), and ran a 13.5.

Well, I made it to the track last night (with mods in sig-small cam/full exhaust/gears/bolt on's minus the underdrive pulley), and the best I could muster was a 12.48 @113.2 w/ a shitty 1.95 60ft.

I'm sure the Eibach prokit/stock shock combo is hurting me on the 60ft time.
The 60ft is what's killing me, and I was even on 315/35/17 BFG Drag Radials @ 20psi.

I also realized after I left the track that I had made all runs with the air filter still in the car, so I'm not sure if removing it would have helped much or not.

No weight reduction was done other than removing the spare tire/jack.

***Since I'm still on the STOCK torque converter (not for long-my FTI 3600 is sitting in my room waiting for install ), I tried both launching off idle and foot-braking at 1200 rpms. Not sure which helped more, as my 60ft ranged from 1.95-2.00 all night (5 passes).

Thoughts? Advice?

Edit: Also, the first four runs I wasn't really giving the DR's enough heat during the burnout, so I gave them hell in my final pass, but I guess the motor was heat soaked, as my mph dropped to 110 (still couldn't get better than 1.95 60ft that run either).

its the stock converter thats killing your 60ft. once you get that 3600 in there youll be looking at high 11s... i would also go down a bit more on the tire psi.... goodluck!

I'm hoping to keep the 10-bolt alive, but what rpms do you foot-brake your converter to?

If your trans is stock don't footbrake and launch it over 2k. I footbraked mine to 3400 at one point and blew my trans. Stripped out the splines in the rear planetary. The rear will last much longer that way and you'll still pull a good 60ft. I have over a 100 passes on my rear. It did blow once but only because my ring gear bolts loosened up which is something I've never seen happen with a 10 bolt before...

That's a respectable time, you already know what to do. I just preload the converter at around 1000-1100 and let it flash.

I pulled low 1.7's on 315/35/17 Nitto's regularly on a mildly preped track by only footbraking to about 2.5k but I had a 4000 stall and it was on a stock motor with bolt-ons. On my 255/50/16 mickey thompsons I would footbrake to 3k and launch with a mid 1.6x 60' easily unless it was shity track prep. My best time was a 12.10@111mph with a 1.66 60' on the stock rearend except 3.73 and it had 100's of passes on it! Just make sure to let your tranny cool down after runs.

Try less tire pressure and see what happens. Not a bad time considering how heavy your car and you have a stock converter!!!

I leave from idle with a 3600 vig 3.73 gears and cut 1.47's on a cold 45 degree track. I run 17 psi in a 255 50/16 mt et street radial
