Default chevelle hood clearance

carbureted l92 victor jr intake, half inch spacer, drop base air cleaner, edelbrock mounts, stock 68/69 ss hood. are you guys having any hood clearance issues? i'm also running a truck alternator/PS bracket and i don't know where it bolts to on the engine. will the alternator clear the hood as well?

With the stock Alternator mounting, I have heard some have had problems, other have just cleared, it depends on how high and forward you mount the engine.

I saw one guy cut the support brace out a bit just to get clearance.

bringing this back. i had no alternator issues but i have zero clearance for the air filter. i don't use a spacer. i'm using the moroso dominator drop base air cleaner here:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOR-65920/

i'm also using an sv1 carburetor. with the air cleaner lid off i can shut the hood and it crunches the air cleaner a little bit. it's about 1/4 inch too high. with the air cleaner lid on it is so much worse. my hood closes but the back sticks up.

My question is: my car is a 1968 chevelle, originally came with a 327 so it has those lower engine mounts and i am using energy suspension poly upper mounts. did you guys need to turn your lower engine mounts around? i feel like my engine should be moved back and down a tad.

Not sure on your mounts. But would a small cowl hood be out of the question. I stayed fi so hood clearance wasn't an issue for me.

What engine mounts are u using? Im gonna have to build a custom Air cleaner for my carb when i put the N20 plate on to fit under my cowl, but then my cowl is 2 1/2" tall, factory cowls on chevelles are a bit lower. Spectre makes a air cleaner that fits 2" above the carb...http://www.spectreperformance.com/#CATALOG.901272 might look into that

I don't have a Chevelle but to clear my hood I had to use the deepest drop base I could find. I've got a Super Vic intake on a 3rdgen camaro with a 2 1/2in cowl hood.

i'm using the "307" mounts. they look liek this and are positioned exactly like this: (how they came from the factory) https://ls1tech.com/forums/attachmen...complete_3.jpg

i'm already using a 1 3/4 inch drop base. can't go anymore than that.

no cowl hood i want the car to look stock.
