Default switching carriers?

i want to go to 3.73 gears, i have a two series carrier the speed shop told me that i should switch to a 3 series carrier before doing it. i know they make this ratio for a 2 series.
what are the advantages of a 3 series carrier over a 2?

no advantage !!!
a potential advantage for the speed shop by selling you a carrier and making more money.

Right off the top of my head, I cant think of one reason that one is better than the other.

Nope, not really any advantage. They may offer more gear choices for a 3 series. A replacement used posi is likely easier to find in a 3 series. But other then that nothing I can think of.
