Default Track Day Video....

For those of you who'd like to know if my car handles decently, or if I can drive decently..... A slight moment right at the start on cold tires. Around 6:48 I let a GT3 by after he caught me in traffic. I hang with him for the lap until he pits. Right after that I let a customer of mine by in his WS6 and followed him for a lap and he let me back around...

Cool video. Is there a cage in that car?

No cage... Will get a rollbar at some point, but I figured I'd risk it Hell, the car is tagged and has A/C (which works) and the Stereo in it...

Nice vid ... BR looks like a fun track. An east coast tour is on my bucket list.

OH man ... stop risking it. Get a cage ... and suit! After I read Charles' Espenlaub's ordeal at the 25 of Thunderhill, it made me take a second look at my own gear.

He described burning his hands on the roll cage while trying to get out of the car, mere seconds after it burst into flames. He'd already pulled the handle for the fire bottles too.

This was a pro built car. Team MER has hundreds of Miatas running all over the country. It was a freak accident ... but it happens.

Is this car equipped with your springs or is it a custom coil-over kit?

It was a good time. It was a lot of fun. Keith O. was there, we ran with each other for a while, he sat out the last session and put a clock on me (on his own, I didn't ask).

I had a bar in my '91, if I manage to get enough time to do more track days this car will get one too, but likely not a full cage (I'll just try and keeps my desire to go as fast as I can down. I certainly didn't ever charge turn 9 (that's the kink on the back straight) as hard as I could have since that's the iffy place @ BR.

Has my springs on the back. It had a coil-over kit up front long before I made my springs (and what I used to develop my springs). I'd have to reverse engineer my Koni's to run the regular springs and don't think I have all the parts. But the rates and height are the same as my springs, and that Black TA/WS6 has my springs all around.

Depends on what tires you run. Track days are much less hard on tires than autox is. I barely touched the Hoosier R6's that I had on for that day.

Chris Shropshire, my customer in the black TA posted his video from his car too. It's kind of cool to see my car from behind when I know what it was like driving it.....
http://www.youtube.com/user/KnightWS.../0/6hfpmBhSDWs

About 115 mph on the front straight, just over 120 on the best laps on the back straight. But I was shortshifting a bit and rolling out because the car was detonating a bit. Probably would have been more like 125 on the back, 120 on the front if I hadn't had been rolling out and shifting @ 4800-5000.

Suspension? Pretty much what I developed and what some many folks here have. Strano bars, Koni's, Watts link, Strano spring rates, etc., etc.....

For some added kicks, I'd like to venture a guess that you were using what you usually recommend for brakes, including Ate stock sized replacement rotors under stock 4th Gen F-body calipers. Since you were indeed braking from 115 to 120 MPH at times, your brakes were for the most part okay because you used the appropriate pads along with the appropriate tyre compounds.

Am I right?

Correct, I was running good fluid (Brembo LCF600 in this case) and Hawk HT10 front, HP Plus rears with the Hoosier's.... But BR is hard on brakes, next time I'll likely have some more aggressive front pads, either HT14 or DTC70's.

Nice Sam

For the record, I hate R6's I'd much rather spend less and get a more predictable tire (NT01). I was going to take some video from Sears Point the other weekend in the Camaro, but after a couple sessions and how much the rear was sliding around in a couple of areas not pushing that hard, I decided to just back off and I need to get some 315s for the 2 17x11 wheels I have

I have a great canyon video with all your suspension on youtube Sam, but I'm sure you don't want to condone spirited drives through the canyons

Very nice Sam. I can't wait to try out my sam strano bars/Konis/DMS springs/UMI rear suspension in British roadrace tracks.

I love the R6's. I found them very predictable. In fact the only issue I had was that very first lap of the last session when you see the car move. And frankly I didn't have any heat in the tires.

Then again I'm kind of a Hoosier guy, I run the A6 autoxing, and they have a nice contingency program so it keeps me in tires pretty well.
