Your primary issue is the fuel gauge. You will need to use a fuel system module from an express van file to get that working correctly. Not sure what software you use but I'm pretty sure that EFI Live can swap modules. Other than that you will have to re-pin your harness to work with the '99 - '02 PCM. If you have ASR, it will not work and the light on the dash will be on.

Ummm Im not sure but Im pretty positive that theres some members on here with 98s with dual bad map sensor setups on 98s. Theres a ton of fast 98s on here.

my car is a 98 and the comp. will only read around 14.7 lbs of boost....so you really only have two options if you wanna go over that boost level...if you have the cash and wanna upgrade just go with bs3 system....or like you said switch to the newer pcm....so far i have had no problems out of my car and i drive it on a daily basis..

I would switch to the 99+ PCM.
With all the money you have invested in that setup the cost of the PCM swap would be "chicken feed".
The benefits are a faster processor in the PCM and the ability to use a COS.

To work properly you'd need to repin the harness have the fuel segments changed, etc. Its a good amount of work for what you get out of it. Our software offers a 2 bar custom operating system that has been proven good for well over 600hp so unless you plan on boosting to 16+psi sticking with the 98 pcm and our 2 bar custom os you should be just fine.

Sounds like you know what you need. I've got a '98 ecu on a 2000 block 347 w/twins. If you decide you wanna go with the '98 ecu, I would trade you for your '99.

If I wasn't so deep into my '98 setup, I'd go '99 in mine, just for the 3 BAR and Real Time Tuning capabilities (HP Tuners user here).

That said, my '98 with 2 BAR does just fine for my needs, though I won't be above 15-17 psi in my build.
