I am thinking about putting a cutout in my exhaust.

Currently its LTs, ORY, magnaflow catback (quiet muffler).

Just want opinions or personal experiences on a open header 'vert basically.

Would it get annoying after a while when the top is down?

Would the fumes be too much to deal with or wouldn't matter since the fresh air is circulating the car?

Thanks

The fumes do/can be annoying for the "better half" in stop and go traffic.
But highway driving was fine.
I liked dual cutouts with the top down, and with my cam it was
pointless to turn on the radio, it sounded that good. I used them enough
to burn out one of the DMH cutout motors.
I got the other one i'll sell you, if your interested.

I'd make sure your switch was easy to reach so you can tone it down
on the fly.

an open cutout is a lot quieter than open headers. I have had both and open headers was stupid. The open cutout was not bad at all. It never smogged me out or anything. Open headers smelled the car up pretty bad in stop and go. Cruising was never an issue for either

Open headers/cutout sound sweet in a vert with the top down, in the sense that it is a roaring storm of hell under and around you when driving. It's fun for awhile but it gets old.

I have a Qtec cutout on my Borla with headers and SLP Ypipe w/cats upstream and run the cutout open ALL the time. Car is pretty tame around town, moderate driving. Loud as hell WOT, kinda best of both worlds.

I imagine if you do open headers those might be too much.

On my WS6 I put one under the rear pass. seat. Then I bought a couple of header collector reducers

and had a hole cut at the back of the I-pipe facing straight back here the bend starts to go ver the axle and installed my E-cutout onto it.
That way the exhaust didn't have to make a lefthand turn to exit thie cutout..it would just go straight back out the back of the I-pipe.

this is what i am gonig to do w/4" collector and e-cutout

That's what I did too.

Still want to find a short-radius 3" turn-down though,
to finish it off. It's a bit loud as it's set up.

I have qtp lt's to 3" y with a 3 1/2" elec. cut out(all qtp) and almost never close it. I always get compliments on how good my car sounds. I love it. no smells or anything. car is loud as hell and if u have to, just close it.

My e-cutout is at the end of my I pipe. I rarely open it but it is good to open at the track or when giving rice the burp

A cut out should not fail a inspection. No cats on the other hand. not so much

Thank you, I wanted to be sure in case the inspector might not know what it is and fail inspection because of it.

Mine is mounted at the end of my I-Pipe angled away from the car. I love the way it sounds, especially with LT's, heavy cam, and ORY. It's a bit loud for normal driving but gives the car a nice attitude adjustment with the flick of a switch.
