I was searching around a while back and it said you had to have the rim in upside down? Have you tried that?

Yes, the tire needs to go in upside down. The cover won't sit totally flush and will still stick up a bit, but it will go on and you should be able to screw it down tight if you push down on the plastic wing nut while tightening it down. At least I was able to do mine that way... Of course, this is assuming you have the normal 245 size tire on it. A wider tire and you're probably out of luck.

I had this problem too...the solution was to use the space for a nitrous bottle!

I'm assuming that the wheels for the CTS platform are not as wide as our CTS-V wheels. This would be the reason that it won't fit flush. I have the same problem on mine. Sticks up about 1/2" all the way around the cover.

Even using a 225/50-18 on an 18x8" wheel the cover sticks up a little bit.

Not sure why you can't get your wing nut on. Like I said, I have to push down with some force and screw at this same time, but it does go on and secures the cover.

When I first test fit my full-size spare I found that the wheel/tire wouldn't sit all the way down in the bottom of the spare tire well, that the tire was rubbing the sides of the well. Specifically, there was a bulge in the side of the tire well on the passenger side towards the rear - I used a block of wood and a 3lb hammer and flattened that bulge a bit. After that the spare sat down into the well all the way.
