LS4 Performance - Ported Intake Manifold Installed!!!

Alright so I got it installed today (took longer than I thought), and I did notice more throttle response. Being that my car in not tuned yet (maybe May??), I am expecting more from it once it does get tuned. I didn't really notice any sound differences, but I really wasn't looking for that anyway. I didn't really have enough time to take it out today, so I will reset my Maximum G's tomorrow and tell you of I saw any improvements. Other than that, this is what I noticed in my 3 mile drive home from the shop. Maybe once I get it tuned, and a couple more mods put on, I will notice more drastic changes. Does anyone else have the Ported IM who have noticed more gains??

-Nick

Where'd you get it done?

I take it that you ported the stock manifold? How much did they port?

K&M on William in Cheektowaga. They charged me 175 to install it. Took like 6 hours LOL.

I bought it from fastproms on ls1tech. I think the ad is still in the classifieds.

You should get some rockers next. This woke my car up a lot...

Which ones you got??

I have SLP 1.85's. I found them in the classifieds here for 200.00. I also got some Intense oil restricted pushrods. I installed them with the rockers to prevent valve float since I used the stock springs. Those cost about 140.00 shipped and I have no valve float at all and they have been on there for about 10,000 miles now.

I am getting a ported intake as my next mod. Thank you for the review. That is the last piece of the puzzle for me.

6hrs to install a intake! Took me less then an hour, and I ported mine myself.
Rockers are a must!

nice, I'm thinking about getting a ported intake manifold and ported tb from them.

Or maybe the zzp tb that mgpeagle has.

Also rockers are next on the list for me as well!

I'd really like to see some gains from someone with a different camshaft.

Sittingmongoose, put down 286 with a ZO6 cam and cnc ported heads, with a ported intake. He later had a shop install a LS6 intake, and put down 313hp

I may be wrong, but isn't a Z-06 Cam too much for a 325? Getting rid of the cat and putting on the rockers really woke my car up on the top end and it is still a beast down low. I can't wait to get the proper tune once it is finished which will be in a month or two. I am also going to the track to see what she'll do. I hope it runs at the very least 13.2 or lower. I am hoping for high 12's but I think I am dreaming...

I would get rid of the cat, but it wouldn't pass NY inspection. I can't even the a hogan because it will throw a code and fail inspection! There are a lot of things I can't do because of NY.

I think you can delete the P-0420 code with the Diablo. I did and still passed.... : )

Does it actually delete the code or just turn off the CEL?

Nick,

If you are worried about appearance, I have a solution for that too. Let me know.

You can delete it through a PCM re-program. I assume the Diablo re-programs it, right?

has anyone tried to move the MAP sensor on the intakes?

The ZO6 cam is perfect for our engines 02+ LS6
Its got a wide Lobe separation for a smooth idle with tons a of vacuum, and its got a lot more exhaust duration then the intake lobe to help with the restrictive exhaust manifolds and cat. No it's not to big. We have plenty of cam stock though. My engine with rockers will pull up to 6100.

Thought I'd provide an update...so after a couple of days, I am hearing deeper exhaust tones, and definitely better throttle response. I had to work the last couple of days (weekends blow :bang:), but I promise I will punch it sometime this week and tell you if I notice any changes.

Yeah, it's still going strong tho, so I don't plan on changing that soon (I hope)

Any idea about a better DOD/AFM camshaft? From the L76 (G8 GT)?

I just got a bbk ssi aluminum intake pretty cheaply. Ill check the clearance issues with that. Hopefully the stock fuel rail will fit. Looks like a 5004 and I already have a truck tb to use with it.

Just cut the back of your alt bracket off and get some injector adapters and that sucker will bolt right on.

I saw some professional products ones on ebay for 345$ too, but I would trust bbk more. I'm sure they are similar. Aluminum intakes do have heat soak issues, but I would rather have a bigger opening.

Yea it's a salvage take off. No idea what size those included injectors are. Hoping to just use the ls4 ones.

You could get away with LS6 injectors (28lb) but not LS1 26lb injectors without tuning.
You can get the injector adapters for 25.00 on E bay.
