I could hardly retain the excitement of opening up the box and pulling out my nice new 6al box! So much so that i installed it right away.Everyone likes to see pictures so here they are

Thats where i decided to install it. right where the stock airbox mounts too

and installed

If i remember correctly ive never seen anyone else mount it there before. It came out great! With it mounted like that the rev limiter and 2 step controls are right there for easy adjusting... The car feels alot more stronger! throttle response and power feel more crisp. Also not to mention the lack of raw fuel smell now from the exhaust! I havent gotten around to fuel consumption but im sure theirs a small increase with that aswell. All in all its a great box and im very happy i finally got one! and a parting gift. alittle 2 step off 3k rpm. the camera does not to it justice

nice install man, I have mine just screwed into the metal on the other side of the fuse box if you could see more toward the inside of the hood.

thanks! I had the space there because of my custom intake setup. everyone else tends to put them where you put yours. you have to be sure to use vibrator isolators. MSD says its very important to prevent them from dealing with to much shock and vibration. aswell as to keep them away from heat.
You did a good job, nice clean install!
Like said, i did mine on the opposite side under the fuse box, because im running CAI.

Looks good. I was looking at the same box. How did you wire everything up? 2-step also? Did you run a switch inside the car? Or wire it up to your clutch somehow?

thanks! the 2 step function was worth the price of the box itself! well.. sort of. $250 a nice chunk of change :chug:

i used the plug and play msd wire harness (msd part # 8876) and it was a breeze. the 2 step function is a part of the 6al-2 set up. its real nice. i just have the wire plugged into the battery in the video. i havent finished hooking it up tho. i want to do a main on/off switch inside the car at least. what you said hooking it up to the clutch isnt a bad idea tho thanks!:chug:

All 6 speeds should have a 2 step.
Nice install, I've seen a few there and I'm gonna put mine there too someday. For now it sets where the Cai used to.

nice,,,i always like to mount my boxs inside the car though..glove box is a good spot..i do this to keep them away from heat and moisture an stuff..
i had a coil mounted on my fire wall onces and after my engine bay would get hot the car would act up and i chased it for awhile..turned out it was getting to hot from the location..and it was clear from the header an such..just my under hood temps after a bit would do it.

I was going to attempt that but i didnt know how to do that and retain the rubber feet.

Msd says not to put it in a place where it doesnt have good ventilation. if you have the same box as me tho, they say it isnt as bad because the 6al-2 puts out less heat

Glove box is a terrible place
if you think so..tell me whats worse a 150 degree engine bay or a 90 degree glove box..trust me alot of people run them in there box with the box being moded..you dont want to mount it where it cant get no air under it..

.
Im curious...what exactly does a two step do?

it gives you 2 rev limiters..the limiter for the max rpms you want to stop your engine to max rev at and then a lunch rpm..so you hit your trans brake or line lock button and its engauges the second rev limiter..say set at 4500rpms so now the max your engine will rev is 4500 rpms on the line..once you release your button for the brake or line lock it disengauges and gos back to the normal max redline rpm you have set.

Flawed logic. They specifically say NOT to put it in the glove box. Engine bay is better ventilation, and its not 150 degrees ambient...

Looks good and gotta love the 2-step!! I put my box in the engine bay also.

and did this to activate it. Didnt want it on the clutch or the shifter.

Sorry to thread hijack. But what other part s did you have to buy in order to run the 6 AL 2 properly? I've been looking into this for a while now. I'm just a total noob with as far as ignitions. Thanks!

If I get someone over with wiring skills Ill have them hook it up to the radio controls on the factory wheel, or maybe get a new aftermarket wheel with a built in momentary button. Just dont like the zip ties that hold it on now.

Actually there are two part numbers for lt1s. 8876 is for the DUAL connector coil that 92-95 has (i think that's the years) 8877 is for the single connector coil used in the later years.

lol ok i thoguth you were talking about the box itself being temporarily mounted there. im a dumbass :emb: having it on the wheel is real nice tho. i wont be able to do that without something fairly custom with my grant wheel tho...

So no MSD blaster coil is required with this box? Sorry for the dumb questions. I just want to be exactly sure on what I need for something I know little about.

The box stays where its at. Drill a hole in the grant wheel for a momentary button.

EDIT: I see the controlls on the bottom now. My bad.
