Talk to Patrick G about a custom spec'd cam.
AFR 215 (milled for min. of 11:1 compression)
Fast 92mm
American Racing headers
4" Mufflex system or 3" Duals
150 TNT F2 kit w/ Nano
The real question is do you want to keep the stock bottom end or do you want to open it up for forged/stroked parts?
If you do i would consider a 408 build and jump up to
11-11.5:1 compression
CNC L92 heads
102mm intake (possibly ported)
ARH big primary headers
custom cam like before

Are you on a budget?

I know a guy who will ship you a set of like new LS3 heads w/ rockers and intake manifold with fuel rail and injectors for 1075 shipped.
That paired with a custom cam will yeild ~470rwhp.

so are the ls3 heads better then the l92 for power

They are identical except for the fact that LS3 heads have hollow intake valves which are lighter than the L92 solid intake valves.

The only thing with the L92 heads on a stock LQ9 is the huge valves limit cam size, and the pistons need to be flycut for anything serious. (assuming you keep the stock bottom end)

so ls3 sound like the way to go . so to get real hp with the ls3. flycuting must be done

I imagine with a mild NA cam, that won't be necessary. I would get a cam custom ground for your set up, then measure the PTV clearance with the cam installed. Having to fly cut is not the end of the world.

This is the cam I was going to go with before I changed my direction to FI:
223/231 .610/.617 113LSA +4 advance using Comp LSL lobes
Here is the link to a thread by Pat G detailing the results with that cam (dynograph is posted):
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/1123842-ls2-l92-heads-makes-460rwhp-446rwtq.html
Great looking power curve! You could vary the cam a little to pick up some more top end power while giving up a little low end torque.

Damn those are good numbers. I would have milled them, ported the MAF/intake, went to a 100mm lid, and used LT's with 3" catted Y-pipe and a 4" mufflex system. That would put you EASILY in the upper 400's. (~475-485)
I wanna see someone break 500hp with one of these combos. Damn that got me drooling over building the 6.0 i have laying in the garage. Imagine all the people you would piss off with such a basic low dollar build.

Note for the price on the heads, that's per head.

I'm talking about used heads. I have bough several pairs of "take-off" LS3 heads for around 625 shipped with rockers.
I sold a set a while back with like new LS3 intake manifold w/ fuel rail and injectors for 1075 shipped. Turns out the buyer doesn't need them any more and said he'd sell it for what he paid, so I want to find someone to buy them, it's a pretty good deal IMO.

I was posting used prices for some of the parts. Like I said, rough estimate. I'll change the cam to ~$400. I'm sure he can get a new custom spec'd cam for the L92 heads from you for a good price.
I still need a cam ground for me. I have a custom spec'd cam card, just need a core cut and checked.
