112 or 114 LSA?
I'm thinking of the comp cam 224/224 .581/.581. I've been leaning towards the 112 LSA since I have a M6. What are the pros and cons of each? Hows the driveability with the 112 LSA with tuning and w/out tuning. Would the 114 LSA have less driveability problems? ie surging, codes thrown? Would I lose that much HP with a 114 LSA? Any answers will be much appreciated.

With longtube headers and low backpressure 112* is the way to go. With out all that 114* will run about the same with cleaner idle and exhaust.

Now that is something to definitely think about. Would I be losing much with 114 LSA in HP? Do you really think I could get by at the dealership with the 114 LSA. I was stupid enough to get the extended warranty(5yr/75,000 mile). My car is a 2002SS which leaves lots of time on the warranty. I was going to say screw it and hope for the best and go ahead and install the cam. If I can get by with the 114 LSA that would be great. ARe you sure they can't EASILY tell that this 114 cam is in there.

Call the 1-800# for GM customer service and tell them that you wish to cancel the Extended warrenty - they will pro-rate towards current mialage and time in service however you will receive the check in about a week. Don't count on any warrenty work from your dealer - My dealer accused me of racing because my car has NHRA badging on it?!? Lol nevermind that it is the NHRA Special Edition. After we got past that they had a fit over my ASP pully - first they claimed it drove the oil pump and once I got them to admit that it doesn't they claimed that it 'ballanced' the motor. But back to the subject here - Mine was 36 months/100000 miles (I was driving 200 miles a day when bought) I canceled the warrenty - paid 2100 for it - had the car 15 months and 19000 miles - got 1200 back. Looking into the 114 on a m6 here from the refund

I tried this. I called the number. They told me I couldn't get a lump sum back. They would either take like $10 bucks off each payment or at the end I would just have 2 fewer payments. I can't remember which, but I decided not to go ahead and do this.

Re: 112 or 114 LSA?
Will I have less surging with the 114 over the 112. I have a huge hydraulic cam in my big block Chevelle. It does a lot of surging. I want great driveability. I want this cam to let it idle good, AC work well at a stoplight, but come on like a **** when I floor it.

The way I understand this LSA thing is this. You won't necessarily lose power going to a 114* over a 112. A 114 will just hit peak power a few hundred RPM's higher than a 112 will. How much do you wanna spin it? I went 112 for a more choppy idle and the fact that I don't want to go 6600-7K for peak power. Want a bit smoother idle? Go 114. Want a bit of rumpety-rump? Go 112.

I went from an MTI "X1"
230/227 .591/.571 112lsa
to a
Comp cams
214/218 .540/.550 114lsa
This new one idles like stock, you can't even tell I have a cam in the car, but it sure makes good power with the blower...
