PSJ the system Hertz uses is Magallen. There is no service fee for it it comes with all the maps for it. They do offer upgrades usually every six months but the charge about $250 for those. I wouldnt recommend it as they mostly update the rural areas not the major metropolitian areas. If hes going to use it in the Chicagoland area he could probably go 4 or 5 years before needed to upgrade it. I work for a dealer of Magallen let me see what models we have and what I can get them for you for. I dont work at one of our retail locations but in our corporate office so im a little out of the loop on current models but can check up on them for you.
