Default Any cons to running a catless wide open exhaust?

My new setup will have my 1 7/8 kooks, no cats, followed but A DMH cutout.

Any cons with a setup like this ?

Besides maybe the smell.

Will it hurt my motor/ burn out my valves or anything like that?

all that crap I used to hear about back pressure, any of it true?

Do you mean going from the headers into a Y-pipe with a cut-out? If that is the case it wont hurt a thing, but it will be louder than all getout.

back pressure is largely misunderstood, but that's a different topic. You will be fine with the exception of the smell like you said

Keeping the stock catback and putting a cutout before it?

That will be fine if you're using a MAF - you should see quite a gain when the cutout is open.

thanks bros

Im think I could pick up a few more ponies from losing the cats, just figured Id ask before I did it.

I wont mind the smell Ive had plenty of non-catted cars before.

I love the electric cutouts, I can cruise with the nice sound of my cat back. But if something pulls up or I just want to play Its so nice to just hit the switch and open it up.

Amen! My cutout is in the mail, I just got the flowmaster merge collector. I did 3.5" outlet to a 3.5" cutout. 4" is better but the price jumped up a lot to get everything 4" for some reason.

So to un-hijack your thread, I think you'll be just fine as long as you have the y-pipe. I know you're not supposed to just run open headers.
