Anyone launch at idle with a loose converter?

The converter should flash higher if you launch from idle, you'll have to see how the chassis reacts to it. Bob

When I was running my car n/a I used to leave at about 1100, just enough so that the car was up in the rpm's enough so it would hit really hard. The venturi effect of the t/b just being cracked I think helped it.
I went the same speed doing that with radials as I did leaving @ WOT off the brake with slicks... so I can't say it was better or worse, but it did work

I won't agree with that, n/a cars need a 6000+ converter to work.
BS, I think most of the radial guys limit the leave rpm with a step, I probably could have used the tbrake with them if I had a 2 step in the car too, just had to get that set to the rpm they would hold and go from there... I never went down that road though, I used to just plant the right foot and let go of the button, which didn't work, but footbraking did.
Worst part, was it went the same speed with slicks off the brake as it did foorbraking it, just tells me that either can work, just ALOT harder to get the reaction times on a protree down with the footbrake.

JL, I disagree with that on so many levels.
A solid roller spinning to 10k maybe, but not all N/A cars, certainly not mine, or any hydraulic roller for that matter can I see getting benefit from a 6k converter in a 1/4 mile.
An I'll add even solid roller N/A cars, one's without a dry sump set up and spinning under 8k would not need and will lose performance with such a high stall.

I've left at idle many times, mostly if the track is suspect that day but my best times came from bringing the rpms up a bit, like around 3k-my converter stalls around 4400.
I personally have never had any success leaving off the transbrake with radials but I'm sure it can be done with a 2 step and/or a suspension that's perfectly dialed in.
