Default CTS-V vs. XLR-V(07)=heart attack

Well long story short im leaving a car show and a 70 year old man driving im guessing an 07 due to the 06-06 black center caps is in front of me. We line them up from about 45 and i open the bottle. Go figure no nano and the pressure is only 800. So im like what the hell. We take off and i poull about a 1/2 car and hit 3rd and the *** end completely slides out from underneath(but puckers at this point) stability control comes on the nav screen and i obviously shut down about 1 1/2 cars ahead. Lets just say i unarmed thew system ad went the speed limit haha. Short race but the XLR ran good, only downfall for it was the auto or it would have been a better race IMO. Hopefully ill run into him again when i have loing tubes and a cam next month.

Now its time to browse for some stock size drag radials lol. My guess is the intial hit had a little air in the lines still cause I didnt have time to purge.

What motor does the XLR have in it? Just a northstar v8 right?

I thought the V would beat one anyway...

The V has the 4.4 with an Eaton and makes 443hp.

XLR-V rated at 443BHP at 6,400rpm, 414TQ at 3,900rpm.
Watch out for the Mallett XLR-V, it may ruin your day:

Yea like 443 hp at the motor, but it weighs less then the V, only downfall for it is the auto trans. They run pretty good like in the 112 trap speed range.

Went to dragtimes.com, here is what they got, all claim to be stock, none have attached time slips or vids:

1/4 Mile ET: 12.669
1/4 Mile MPH: 108.960
1/8 Mile ET: 8.127
1/8 Mile MPH: 86.870
0-60 Foot ET: 1.911
Temperature F: 58.0

1/4 Mile ET: 12.710
1/4 Mile MPH: 112.310

1/4 Mile ET: 13.010
1/4 Mile MPH: 110.110

I dunno, first run seems like a freak, as mph seems too low. The other two do not have breakdowns, a 12.7sec is faster than I thought they could run.

not from a roll and everyone knows the Gm autos from the factory are dogs without a tune. Take the new G8 for example, once they are tuned and tq management is reconfigured they are totally different cars and lose tenths off there e.t.

I would assume a tune is kind of a must for ppl that are going out and racing. i know it always has been for me.

The 4L60E has been well into the 9's several times, yes the trans is FAR from awesome but for sub 650rw its a good package i think

The 4L80E is one of the best transmissions ever built. Stock they handle over 700rw and built can handle whatever you throw at them. Rossler has several 1500+ hp cars with 80e's in them.

Depending on the converter combo an auto car can be a monster from a roll, and some of us like dig racing. An auto would make the rear end in the V last for much longer imo if properly setup

I agree, not even sure what tranny comes in the XLR-V. I know autos can roll out froma roll i was just saying in this case it didnt help him. The 4l60E held up well in my SS and it sure would help the V in the 1/4 but it just wouldnt be as fun. Maybe if it was as crisp as the C6's are witht he paddle shifters.
