That sucks! Might be bad news for me as well. I recently broke my 12 bolt and they are replacing my auburn w/ a truetrac. the grears (4.11s) seem to be fine. My car probably makes 550 rwhp but I don't launch as hard you.

Dumb question, but what makes the Tru-Trac so weak? Compared to other posi units? This isn't the first time, I've seen a TT fail.

we have installed a few of these in car over 500 to the tires and never a had failure (knock on wood) we are suspecting that there are some small contaminents getting into the gears causing them to self destruct. just a thought.

From what I've seen thus far it's mainly the 6sp cars that's breaking them due to the hard hit of the manual. It seems that the auto is a little less stressful on the TT. If you search you will find many posts very similar. Unfortunately I searched a little too late, hence why I have a spool today. I can't complain though because the Sponsor I bought mine from made it good but I would not recommend a TT to anyone. As far as contaminents causing the failures, I'm sure it's possible but after mine was torn apart this theory was not mentioned by the company that built the rearend.

<3 my spool

TT is good for a jeep or somthing you climb rocks at 10mph. Not drag racing, 6500 clutch dumps.

what rearend do you have? what gears with the TT, how is the new setup?

That tru-crap diff is the worst thing to ever come out. Makes a 12 bolt/S60/9 inch worse then a 10 bolt is in the reliability department.

I've seen 350 rwhp cars kick those things out with a stick... just like a 10 bolt.

tru-crap= fail.

I saw too many failures when I was at Exotic Performance Plus, so I took all the Truetrac's off the website. The failures started happening after Eaton took over the Truetrac, the Truetrac use to be a very dependable unit for under 600 rwhp. Bob

Cost spool + Local Labor + Fluids = Cheaper then a standard Diff.

I think I saw on Moser's Website for a steel full spool being like 200ish. The diff alone when I got mine was over 500, I think it was near 600.

Not even good for a jeep, friend broke his rear Trutrac in his 8.5" lifted cherokee, It was an A4 too but did have 4.11s and a 4.6L with 300tq, maybe 4000lbs. Now he has air lockers.
