Are you trying to stir up something? Give it a rest, everyone.

No I am not, I get annoyed that people moan about the GTO when it has the right mechanicals, yet GM USA are coming up with rubbish like the FWD Impala??....

I highly doubt that the car in that picture is anything that's being considered for production...the car's 3 years old for Christ's sake. I think GM's on the right track with all the new models they've got coming out. The Vette, GTO, G6, Solstice, possibly next gen Camaro...need I say more?

It would make a damn good cop car, which might have been the main intentions for that type of vehicle. I notice that Houston PD is now using Ford Crown Vics instead of the Chevrolets they used to have.

I hear mainly people from the GTO camp
trying to stir things up. I'm sick of it all.

Very old pic. That was in GMHTP. They've been using Crown Vic's for years around here. I've seen maybe 2 undercover Caprices. There are quite a few Tahoe's and Impala's though, but they aren't pursuit vehicles.

That looks hilarious to see an LS1 mounted transversely. Who would've thought it would fit? Can you imagine the torque steer from this monster!? Punch it and the steering wheel rips through your hands to the right. What a beast.

Had the luck to see one sweet Monaro \GTO at the Summer Nats In Australia today.

Twin Turbo 640RWHP and it was so good it was almost like from the factory the install was that good. Give it a couple of days there will be some pictures and more info appear.

Do you know who built it?, I had heard there was a few TT LS1's being bulit in Aus, 640RWHP is sweet, that's up with the LS1 supercharged crowd..

I can't help but to think about how much I'd consider buying a new Impy if it was that exact model, but RWD.

That'd be frickin AWESOME.

That's basically what I was going to say......Now that GM has brought the Monaro over, maybe they'll pull their heads out of their collective a**, and bring the Commodore over to (as a full production car, not this limited run crap), so they have a RWD sedan (that costs less that the $50,000 for a Cadillac CTS) again for a change. But, that's probably wishful thinking.

I'm seeing more and more FWD Impalas being used in law enforcement.

Unfortunately the FWD Impala is a better "cop car" (no offence to LEO implied by following, but..) now that the days of pursuits are over and they now are more like citywide "babysitters", these cars are perfect; Light, small, performance about equal to Police Interceptor, (actually a bit more maneuverable 'in town") and cheaper.

Most "cops' I know still miss the LT1 Caprice, but in today's world, they accept and cherish the "wrong wheel drive" Impalas.

Fetumpsh, I get the idea that are not from the wasteland of the free and the homeland of insecurity... :) Lucky you!

Guys, it's only a matter of time before Dodge dominates the squad car arena again. They practically owned it during the 60's-70's. With the hemi-engine and the fact that alot of their product line is once again quality, plus rear wheel drive. It will be just a matter of time. They have some killer looking sedans coming out that I would not want to see in my rearview mirror at highspeeds. The GTO would make a good detectives car or undercover ride.

Add a driveshaft going back to a IRS making it 4wd with a LS6 engine and the Monte Carlo suddenly becomes interesting. Then you could have a Monte Carlo SS that means business.
