Aluminum Head Plates with pics > need info
Since I am removing the EGR system in my 98 TA while doing a head/cam/header/LS6 intake swap, I would like to install a "Head Plate". I can only find 2 places that sell these plates. One is Thunder Racing. These are $49.95 each and come only with the "Thunder Racing" logo on them. They are actually made for Thunder by Mallory Billet (MBA).

The other source is Mallory Billet itself. These cost more. There $65 each, but come with various logos to include some that are not shown in the below pic. As you can also see, you can get them with no logo at all, as seen installed on the engine in the pic.

Anyone else have a source for any other of these Head Plates? The prices above (at least the MBA price) seems a little steep for a piece of aluminum, don't ya think?
Thanks,
Ron

Rob (Poltergeist) had a batch made a while back.. mostly to offset the cost of us getting some custom ones.. $65 really is that bad once you factor in getting the parts cut.. polished.. powder painted and engraved.. im sure it cost us about that of more for ours..
I like the MBA ones better than the TR ones.. you could also get a blank unfinised one from MBA and design you own logo.. or get it powder painted in whatever color you like.. Here is my One of One plaque:

We also made some cool intake plates

Steve...
Thanks for the reply.
You said you liked the MBA piece better. Is there a difference in finishes between the two? It appears they are both anodized aluminum and not powder coated. As stated, TRs are also made by MBA per there web site. I would purchase the TR plate, but now I think just the solid red one like on the engine above may look a little cleaner (less busy)
Seems MBA should sell the plain piece for less, since no engraving is done, but they want 65 bucks for all of theirs.
Oh Well... What do I know

MBA makes ALL the plates.. they make the ones for SLP.. the ones for Thunder Racing, etc..
Rob made his own by hand.. not really that tough when you think of it.. just time consuming.. If you could find one that someone has and make a template then it would even be easier.. Whats a plate of aluminum cost??
Our billet guy could punch one out in a heartbeat now that he has it programed in.. but to get the cost down you would have to have at least 10 of them made. Personally I like powder painted ones better than annodized ones since the annodizing will eventually fade due to the heat.. Also you will notice that my plate (the ones Rob made) have only 2 hole as opposed to 4.. makes for a cleaner install
