Default Ash Tray light?

Today I replaced all the interior "lighting" bulbs with SMD's (Map/Dome/Glovebox). I noticed that the ash tray also has a small light that I want to replace. How exactly do you access this bulb? Do you need to remove the top half of the center console? Also what bulb # is it? Thanks guys!

remove the ash tray, then you can pretty much just slide the bulb and its holder up, and out of the little spot thats holding it.. i beleive its a 194, incase you were wondering.

Im pretty sure you can just remove the top half to get to it. Then just twist if out and i believe its a 194 bulb. I wouldnt waste an SMD on it thou, a single led will prob be just as bright cause its just a hole to shine through, kinda like the ones on the doors.

Ignore the switch.

Squeeze where it's marked Red.
Take that out and twist the bulb holder.
It's a 194.

Is it possible to get this out without removing the top half of the center console? I just removed the ash tray and see where its coming from, but I don't believe its possible to get to it without removing the top half.

Its not too big of a deal to remove the top half, but it would be nice if I COULD get it without removing it.

Yes, I did. I know how to take that out. Its common sense. You said take that out and twist the bulb holder. I don't know about your car, but on mine the bulb is not just sitting in the middle waiting to be twisted out. Its inside a VERY tiny rectangular space. I found no way to remove the rectangular space or the bulb inside with my fingers.

Really not that hard bud. Once ash tray comes out, look in and find the 2 wires coming from the bulb. Black and tan/brown as I recall. Follow them up (yes, it's kinda hidden), reach in with 2 fingers, grab the bulb holder, and twist. It comes out, easy as that. Pull out bulb, and replace, install is reverse of removal.

Oh, ok thank you. I wasn't 100% sure if those wires would lead me to the bulb or if they were for something else

Thanks!

Ok, I was just in my car playing around in that area for about 10 minutes. Unless they changed this during the years, this does not look possible. I had my fingers in there feeling for that wire and it doesn't go up to where the bulb is. I also felt no possible way to even remove the bulb. If I try to reach around UNDER where it is there is no gap with a connector going inside which is what would make sense.

I have no clue how to take out this bulb without removing the center console.

Yeah, I believe thats the only way to get to that bulb is removing it. Thats what ill do. Are there any other bolts besides removing shifter and the 2 under the coin holder?

Is yours inside this little rectangular opening? I reached under it to try to get behind it, but I felt no backing where a wire would go in to take it out. I was trying to feel around it and I got nothing that could remove it.

haha well, last time i was down there acually i forgot about it and its over by the e brake now lol so i will have to take the center off to get to it now. To take the center off you just open the console up take out those 2 skinny screws lift up the e break, take your **** off, and disconnect the cig lighters when you got it mostly off. Unless you have a reason you dont want to do that, it wont be but 10 min

the little plastic thing that holds the bulb should just kinda pinch together and pop out the top of that rectangular holder thing...
its really like a one min job..

Wait, does that rectangular opening pull out from the front?

I wonder if the light is in a different spot for automatics vs manuals.
