Default what rivets with race craft rails?

Hey guys, ive had one hell of a night with my hood. I am using 1/8th " rivet with a 6mm grip and after putting the hood back on the car the rivets wont let the hood sit flush on the rails and the dzus fasteners wont even think about hooking. I tried a rivet with a 3mm grip and it wont mushroom enough and looks like it will pull through. what are you guys doing for this problem? thanks Charles

I use smash rivets. If you can you can drill all the way thru the spring bracket and leave a hole for the rivet to sit in.

Where can i get smash rivets at Brian? Also i need some dzus fasteners that have a longer shank, i don't want to crack my hood. I have a few that are a PITA to get to fasten. Do you have any longer ones? thanks

I carry the Pro style Dzus which are the 3/4" head. I have them in .500, .550, and .600 long. You can also squeeze the springs to make the Dzus fit better. You can find the smash rivets at any fastener supply. The install tool is the expensive part.

I'll measure the ones i have and ill give you a call. I have already squeezed the spring and some of them are still a bitch and one of them makes my hood buckle . I have a few that are just to short. Some of them are fine...its been a damn headache to say the least. Anyway thanks Brian, i'll be in touch.:-)

I used these fasteners... Only problem is they didnt align to any of the pre-drilled holes in the rails.

Shanks arent very long, I got the info out in the garage on who sells them Ill post up tomorrow.

Theyre a little different than regular dzus fasteners, the piece that mounts to the rail is threaded with a lock so they can be adjusted up and down to solve for shank length

Heres a link...

As a heads up dont be shocked at the prices - when you get all the parts needed for 1 fastener its about $10 - $12 each.

Id have to check to see exactly which series I used too...
