Haha! j/k That looks awesome. I wish I had the know how and patience to make some of my engine parts look that good.

SSDriver, SSG--Z28... This is most likely the hardest part to polish due to the tight areas.
First I sanded with a 700 grit expander wheel and by hand all imperfections.
Second I used tripoli compound and buffed all of the larger areas.
Third I used my dremmel and tripoli to get those tight areas.
Finally, polished with white rouge for a shine, the same way as using the tripoli.
The plate was a breeze because it was flat. Very simple, just takes time.

Looks very good Todd
And I wont warn you about the upkeep -- maybe you could look into having it clear powder painted?? hmmmm
Mine is done in charcole but I think I will be polishing the sensor plug thingy since it looks so good on yours -- Have you polished your hood struts yet.. they are next on my list..
What alum polish do you use?? I want to go by stock in the company
Oh, I took home a "best engine" trophy at a little Camaro show this weekend (I was the only car newer than 1969 to win anything).. then again you wernt there.. lol..
Keep up the good wook!

Aren't the hood struts metal? Will this cause them to rust quickly if the paint is stripped? Maybe clear coating after polishing them would do the trick to prevent rust?
I know making them shine perfectly is not a problem, what is your opinion?
Oh, I use the Eastwood compounds, they work like a dream. I also bought their video, and got some great tips off the internet.
For aluminium, 3450rpm, tripoli compound (75% of the buffing time), white rouge (the last 25% of the polishing). Both on a spiral wheel, never mix compounds on the same wheel. It the part is perfectly smooth, white rouge only.
I will try not to over kill with pics, but I am really excited about doing this.

Todd: From what I understand the shaft is steel but the gas cylinder is aluminum.. so polish the shock and leave the piston alone (ive been told).. should be easy enough to do..

I was thinking of painting the spring black to match the black sensors on the TB.
Steve, thanks for the info, I am adding it to my list, should be a breeze to do. A magnet does stick hard to it though, worst case I can paint it again.
Yep going off the deep end...
Thank you all for the compliments!

The hood struts must not be aluminum(spelling). I polished mine up real good and a week later they had started to rust. I ended up just painting mine. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. Later.

Man, nice job.
I powder coat throttle bodies everyday and all I can say is that looks awesome! I don't want to know how much time you took to do that. I know how long it takes to do what I do to get a TB in shape for painting but that is nice.
