Anyone run a series conversion ring and pinions on their 12 bolt?

Anyone run a series conversion ring and pinions on their 12 bolt? Just looking to see if you had any issues. Previous owner installed a 12 bolt with stock gearing, limiting me to 3 series carrier gears, which go up 3.73, IIRC.
I noticed that Richmond sells numerically higher gearing for the 3 series carriers. I understand that the mounting flange of the carrier is skinnier, but any issues? Wanting to upgrade to 4.10s without swapping carrier.
