It more than likely is a LQ4. with 317 heads. These are good compression for boost. So yes, definitely worth getting.

It does... but there is a catch. In 2007 Chevrolet used both a standard 6.0 (lq4) in the trucks marked classic and they used the ly6 with the l92 heads and vvt in the "new style" trucks. I'm not sure in vans so you'd have to do some research. If you go to buy a ly6, it is found in the new style or smooth door trucks. I used car-part.com to get mine.. $1500 complete with harness. Only has 17k on it.

You are correct, not sure why I thought I had 317s.

8th digit is a "U" so its a 6.0
I don't think the Express vans got VVT, since most of them were sold as work vehicles

easiest way to tellwhat you have would be to look at the front of the heads and look at the head casting number. if you have 823 you have LY6 w/L92 heads and VVT, if 317, you have LQ4.
VVT definately comes on "work" vehicles.

Look for this type of timing cover
http://www.mastmotorsports.com/page....Camshaft&id=30

ALSO........ IIRC if you look at the pass. side rear of the block.... if its a LY6 it says gen IV as the LY6 is a gen IV and the LQ4 is a gen III It might even say it on the drivers side front too.

My 6.0 came out of a 2007 express van and it is a LQ4 with 317 heads on it. It runs good so if you could pick it up it would be worth it.
