i think that the late models meet there on saturdays. i have not been in a long time. married with 3 kids doesnt leave a lot of time. i usually use my guy time to go to the track.

V1 ruled for awhile, then many cars came out just as fast if not faster..
2009 V with 556hp hurt us...so a big jump in hp...
depreciation sucks...
but only if you sell...then bay another car for $50k and then that fall 60%...

Look at M3's with 50k+ miles many dont sell at $19k....

Once my LS6 goes, many many LS3 will be available

Actually if you want to nitpick the GTO holds its value a little bit better than the V. The GTO sold for ~$35k new and now goes for ~$15-18k. The V sold for ~$50k new and now sells for ~$18-25k. -$17-20k resale on the Goat, -$25+k resale on the Caddy. That's less than 50% drop in value for the GTO and more than 50% on the V.

I want a V for the four doors and the edgier styling, but a GTO for the seats and stronger rear.

Then get a G8, it has everything you want from both those cars.

^^^except they only come in auto unless you pay the price for a GXp and the GTs look identical to V6 G8s except for a tiny tiny difference in wheels.

not to mention the worst theing i can imagine for the interior of a car......window switches in the center console. my brother had them in his cavalier and its the worst spot created for them.

My 6-speed auto with a trans tune bangs gears in manual mode like a stick and it launches much harder. The GXP basically looks like a GT except for wheels and the slight front end difference, so what's your point?

This. Plus a used Gen I V runs around $10-15k less than a used GXP right now, and weighs a bit less as well. I would love to have a GXP, but it isn't worth that much extra to me. You are right, it does have many of the pros of both cars with very few of the cons, but that is a lot of money to spend as well as a hard car to find. For that price, I could pick up a used V and get the Dana 44 rear end conversion and axle upgrade, clutch, flywheel, and full exhaust

The Gen I V is 6 years old, my G8 is 2 years old and it's worth more than I paid for it. I bought it used for $20K and it's worth $23K right now. Plus the 6.0 will put out more power than the 5.7 with a cam and headers.

^^ So buy an LS2 V, handle better, look better, bang your own gears. If they made the G8GT in a manual I would appreciate it much more but the auto takes away so much fun from the car in the turns and just driving in general. Sucks that in order to get a 6 speed you have to pay an extra 15k+.

+ Id put my car with the 5.7 against a G8 with the same mods, HP aint everything bud. Even from a dig the G8 will need a decent stall to get it off its *** with a cam.

***End of pissing contest*** we both obviously favor our cars i apologize if ive offended you.

are you saying with a cam and headers, the 6.0 will put down more than the LS6?

The 6.0 SHOULD put down more power than the LS6, but stock for stock, the 5.7 LS6 is putting out 39 more ponies than the GTs 6.0.

i know almost nothing about the G8s, but i do like what i know about them. i just dont know why they only have 361hp. is it a rating thing, or does it have different intake, heads, cam than the standard LS2? OR, it is an iron "truck" block?

If it's got an iron block, that would make it legal for me to put one into my 96 SS.
