well after 2 years in the build finally got the car to the track for a few shake down passes.. first pass i just ran it into 2nd gear to make sure the box was working and the chute would open etc etc..
2nd pass i ran it through to 1000ft at where it hit the boost cut.. still went 8.2@155.

the motor is a simple 408 with AFR heads, GT55 turbo on methenol with a Reid case powerglide.

next time out the aim is a 7 sec pass..

Wow that is moving out. You spinning those tires for it looked like nearly 200 feet.

10sec_rx7

yeh we will drop the tyre pressures a little next time out that should stop them spinning, they are 33x16.5 so should have no problems :)

i bet there is 3000 in lines and fittings! I spent 1200 just on mine... shit adds up crazy fast! and when your using -10 fittings, its worse!

10sec_rx7
06-10-2010, 05:37 PM
i didnt add it all up, but the cost of that stuff down here is pretty bad... there is a lot of -8 and -10 in there and a few -16's..

new converter arrived this morning as well :)

you think thats bad, get all black anodized fittings. Then you really get cornholed.

Dale, are you running a microtech ecu in it? Car looks real good mate, top effort, well done.

I would like to know as well if your using a microtech!! I use microtech ecu on our RB25 swaps, "skyline motor" im building a single GT4280 setup and never really looked into microtech offering ecu for lsx motors...

hi, what kind of 60ft times are you running, and can I ask the rpm and boost level you leave at?

thanks

hi mate,

we have had no luck with converters so far and the best 60 has been a 1.21, that was leaving at 18psi and 6000rpm, we are hoping to have it in the 1.15 range next time out

we have another new converter to try now which has been done by a guy that is really into his turbo stuff so hopefully in the next 3 weeks we will get out there and give it a try,

we also changed engine management to a Haltech PS2000 with racepak dash, the difference is amazing, so much more control and everything just works now,

swapped the turbo out to a 103mm job which makes another 300hp on 20psi, so everything is slowly coming together..

and finally put a dry sump on the motor to fix some oil pressure issues it was having, got lucky and found a nice pan local so it wasnt a hard job to do!

yeah, thats a shame you're only running 1.21 . but you know what they say abt converters, its just an educated guess.

is that a belt driven fuel pump i see? did you upgrade from the four fuel pumps?

btw, my comment above was a joke :D 1.21 is flying

10sec_rx7
10-03-2011, 01:17 AM
haha its got a big tyre (33x16.5) so 1.21 is a bit slow for it but it still weighs over 3000lb, ill be happy at 1.15 which it should do easily with the right converter, we have a great converter guy working with us now to get it nailed down, so just need to give him some data after a few runs and he can fine tune it,

yep we are running the black aeromotive, we were running the red aeromotive to start with but it was too small and caused a few problems,

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2783/45/29/534289153/n534289153_1526370_16465.jpg

or biggest problem is getting time to work on it, its been to the track twice this year.. just too busy at work and it makes things take a long time to sort out!

hope you get the converter dialed in.

last question. what pulley is that, and what all had to be done to get the belt pump drive to fit it?

thanks

the balancer is made by a local guy called ross balancers, he made up the pulley for us,

we used the aeromotive braket for the pump and welded a bracket to the alt mount there

works pretty well and is nice and solid,

why all the ecu changes?

sorry only just saw this..

when you see the difference between the features of the Haltech over the other one you will see why it was a easy decision..

the Haltech shits on the other from a great height, i have fuel cylinder trims now, i have ignition cylinder trims now, i have closed loop boost control, i have more inputs and outputs than i know what to do with and it all just hooks into the racepak and tells me everything..

it was a easy decision really..

Yes heads are where they should be now. It's a good 600rwhp up at 7000rpm,

28th should be back at the track!
