Thinking about swapping the 10-bolt for a 12-bolt soon. Looking at the Moser specifically. I'm just not sure where to look. Can someone point me in the right direction? This is for a 95' z28.
Thanks.

My car has a Moser and if I were the one that spent the money I would have gotten a Strange 12 bolt. Do some research on it before spending your money.

Why specifically would you prefer the strange? My fucking 10 crapped 3 days ago. and will a strange handle 550 horses easily?
They're BOTH junky diffs IMO. Its the torque arm mount and how it messes with the pinion thats the problem.

M6 and high HP you should look at the S60 or 9"
Moser uses short bolts to hold the trq arm on instead of through bolts, the housing has no brackets for brake lines, the diff doesn't come assembled and they forget to include the shims to install the pinion and carrier.
Strange housings come fully assembled and all you do is bolt them in.

In my opinion, the best option out there is the sheetmetal 9".
I had over 500rwhp and a 6 spd with slicks, so I have been there.
I have a 12 Moser and have thrown over 700ft.lbs at it on the dyno. I have taken the gears out of it 2 times in 5 years. Both were catastrophic and one at an autocross. I also have an Eaton diff in it and 4.11 gear which makes it weaker. It depends what you want to do with it. I also twisted my 33 spline axles, the same would have happened in a 9" which till recently only had 31 spline axles available with a diff, bigger with a spool.
BTW, my TA bolts have never come loose either. Though they are checked regularly. I am sure they are torqued way beyond specs with the grade 9 bolts I have in it.
If you need a diff in the car, look at the Wavetrack. It is pricey, but has a 35 spline capability in both a 12 bolt and a 9".
Good luck with it.

I doubt you will be playing for less than $3k with any of them delivered to your door. This does not include installation either.
When I bought mine our dollar was in the toilet and I think it ran me $4400 installed. You got to pay to play. If you cheap out you will be paying 3 times as much with all the repairs and tows.
The Wave Track is $1k alone, but has a life time warranty. My Eaton cost me $375 in repairs when I blew the spiders out of it. and are like $550 new.

I was lucky enough to find a Strange 12 bolt used. I make close to 500whp, and can honestly say i'm not worried about breaking it. Although, warp10, your 9" looks sick! You must have just picked that up? details!

That was a pic when it was brand new. :D
It's now 1.5 year old. It's a trutrac with Alumn. center section and 4.11. Quite a few runs at the track and still no whining. I've one of the lucky one so far with a trutrac. No breakage and still very solid. The trutrac will be pulled out next year for a spool and 35 splines.
I agree with Rampant for the most part. There are a few issues with the 9" though but I'll get to that it a sec.
The issue with either of the 12 bolts is the TQA mount design. It twists the shit out of the poorly designed mount and this stresses the crap out of the housing which in turn screws with the gear mesh and this is what cause them to fail. The 9" has a different mounting point that doesnt affect the gear mesh the same way so it makes it WAY stronger than a 12 bolt in 3rd/4th gen applications. The 9" does rob power though you can expect about a 3% loss at the wheels from it. Considering thats 15 whp on a 500hp build... and what 15 hp costs at that level. Plus it weighs more etc. Im not knocking its strength but there are some disadvantages to it as well. Also the tube diameter is bigger so for lowered cars expect to be bouncing off the bump stops more frequently.
If you want to go drag racing only and your not concerned with the cost, then the 9" with spool and 35 spine is the way to go.

I have a 12-bolt Moser in my stock powered daily driver and overall I'm happy with it. I ordered it direct from Moser in the states with 3:73 Motive gears and 33 spline last year when the factory 10 bolt blew up.
If I could do it all over again I would have ordered the 9" Moser as my car has the M6 and with the 12-bolt the torque arm bolts can come loose.
If you want to get an idea of how much it will cost to have it delivered up here to Canada with regards to shipping, duty, etc. Just let me know as I still have all of the receipts.
One surprise to watch out for is when UPS calls to arrange final delivery, they may want to charge you a $200 US$ fee for lift gate service if you are having it delivered somewhere without a loading dock.

junky diff IMO
I disagree with you on this one..........i put a used 12 bolt in my street car.....and it has been high 9's on the spray.......with many high 1.39's 60 ft at the track still quite as the day Darren put it in. Now in the race car i have a sheet metal 9" with Alum. centre section......only way to go for big power. But unless you are makeing like 1400 plus hp dont need to spend the money.

Did you see his 60ft time?
It is a M6 and is leaving very hard, my 1.47 was a wild ride, I can not imagine a 1.39. That is like going 0-60 in less than 2 secs. Much higher than 3-4k. I was leaving at at 6500 and dead hooking for my time NA.
He can clarify, but I think that was on a 200 shot with his 402.
My 12 bolt would not likley take that though. I broke my Eaton HD at an autocross.

Yes it is a 6 spd car still......yes on straight motor i am leaving around 5000-5500 and on the spray i leave around 4000-4500 and yes it was a 200 hit when i went 9's. the tire was a 27" hoosier QTP. Also full weight w/ac and a molly cage

I must be lucky with a TruTrac in my 9" as well. I've done quite a few high RPM launches on both 26x10.0 and 28x10.5 ET Drag's cutting anywhere from 1.49-1.55 60's. I've just got the 31 spline axles and now it's in my Camaro with a little over 500rwhp NA. It'll get hit with a small 100 shot pretty soon. If/when it breaks I'll probable put a spool in it and keep the 31 splines til an axle breaks. It'd be pretty hard to twist a 31 spline axle though I would think.
