Default 2.5" to 3" merge to 3" Dump out

I put on LT's this month loved the sound of open headers and want that sound but I do not fore see myself putting in a new cam for awhile. I had a shop make a y pipe for me and they only used 2.5" piping and a terrible merge of using a 180 degree bend into a single 2.75". So my thought are to get a 2.5" merge into a 3" and then get a 3" dump out for an open header sound for the now and again like car shows and just to annoy people. I love the head turning affect you get when you sound like a beast driving by.

My question here is a is it worth it to get the dump out for sound while keeping the back pressure high like that or is it not worth it. Or should I go with a 3" y to a 3" to 4" merge and would it sound just as good as a dump out then?
