Default Do ALL 2001 Camaros have LS6 intake????

Simple question. Looking to buy a 2001 or 2002 SS Camaro for a daily driver and it must have the LS6 intake. Do any of the "early" model 2001 cars come with the old ls1 intake?

Thanks!

easy way to tell is, if it doesn't have EGR, it is an LS6...GM's cheap way of not revising the LS1 intake, so they just put the LS6 intake on them

Yes, the 2001/2002 LS1's will have the LS6 intake but I can't say for certain about the early production 01 models though. There is only a 5-7HP difference between the intakes, and the 01/02 LS1's had a milder cam. If you find a nice 99-00 you should consider it. Most of the HP gain with the LS6 intake is above 5,000 RPM.

The casting numbers for the LS6 design are 12573572 and 12561184 which is stamped on the manifold. The LS1 is 12560688.

Another benefit of the 2001/2002 model years is they got rid of the EGR with the LS6 intake.

It's stamped on top of the manifold, left side I think, where it mates to the head.

Thanks. Building a CA Smog legal max effort H/C build. Looking for 400+RWHP through the cats and mufflers. LS6 intake is a must.

Honestly if you got a 98-02 ls1 camaro and than just did the ls6 swap you would have a faster car because 98-00 had bigger cams. I just did the ls6 intake swap and its pretty easy, as long as you don't loose a intake man bolt

then get yourself a fast 90/90 and pop the hole out in the top so your EGR fits. problem solved. better then LS1 and LS6 intake.

Fast intakes do not have carb numbers.....do they?

And I know about the EGR. I am looking at a car out of state that is at a toyota dealership so their LS1 terminology and knowledge is not on par with ours

BTW, I heard all 2001s have the ls6 intake from a good source.

no they are not carb legal at all in the slightest bit. yes all 01-02 f-body's have the LS6 intake, they don't flow nearly as good as a FAST but you can port them just ask Black Bird on norcal1320 if the LS6 on his Formula is ported and who he got it from

Or if you got a 98-00 LS1 you could get the LS6 intake with the EGR (SLP sells them).
