Went to the track after new mods, something dont seem to add up, pls help.
I would average 1.67-1.69 60's and 7.44-7.48 1/8th mile times, with just bolt-ons, cam, stall, and some non adj lower control arms. Well I just finished putting in my MWC Fab9 rear end with a 3:89 gear, adj lower control arms, adjustable tq arm, and adjustable panhard bar. I also threw on some big and littles with some 28" mt et streets on the back. I really thought I would have been a little faster but the best 60' I could pull was a 1.70, a 7.68 1/8th and a 12.0. Will the bigger tires hurt my 60'? I figured they would, but I have shorter gears also so I dont know. The track had a 2600 DA, 94* temp, and a 24 mph headwind. Would the weather throw me off that much or is something wrong???

Ok ok, hear me out guys and let me know if I'm going in the right direction. It takes more horsepower to turn a 9" than the stock 10 bolt. It takes more power to spin taller tires, and the weather(temp, humidity, da, and wind). So all of that probably contributed to the time difference. Am I on the right track here or no?

I dropped a second after putting my MWC 9" in........pretty much the same changes you made except mine is a M6 car with 4.11, which with a 28" tire puts me at around a 3.90 gear which means you are around a 3.73 or less gearing. I went faster when I started to launch higher.

Its really hard for me to remember. Last time I ran the car before I put the mods on was before I went to Afghanistan. I just got back after a year over there. I do remember it was always late evening or night so it was deff cooler. I know everybody else that I was talking to out there said they were 3-4 tenths off from the heat and humidity so I'm sure that was most of it.

Yeah thats what I'm hoping. All my buddies are telling me the same thing, I just worry cause I just dropped a lot of money on the rear end and suspension. What rear end do you have in your car if you dont mind me asking?

Did you gain any time on motor when you put in the rear end with the 28's? Cause mine is a 9" with the same gear and a 28" drag radial. I know the weather was a huge part but I've heard the 9" rear end robs the most power from any of the other rear ends.

Never really had a good comparison to be able to tell you anything. Also went from a 4.10 to a 3.89 so that wouldnt make it fair either. Yes they take away power. A noticable loss probably not. Wait til you get around the same weather and then compare, it probably picked up a little or stayed right around the same after the gear/tire change. The car would probably run better with a 26inch tire on it, if you can hook it.

Yeah thats what I was thinking after today, that was my first time on 28" tires. I'm pretty confident it will hook on 26" tires when I'm on motor, but I'm in the process of hooking up my nitrous kit and not to sure it will hook on 26's with the spray. Yeah I'm sure most of my time difference was due to the bad weather, like I said everybody else was off quite a bit. I will try to take it out in some cooler weather.
