Default Bulb is drivin me nuts (front passenger) Help

I just replaced it two days ago and now it doesn't work. It is the front turn signal . I housing is good , the connection looks corroded (fixed it with coke) and when I turn on my lights the bulb lights up. But it won't flash when I use the turn signal. any thoughts ?

I had the same problem, just fixed it this weekend. I saw that the housing was corroded, so I started to clean it, but then I noticed that not only was it corroded, but there was a contact point missing. I replaced the housing ($8 at autozone) and the bulb, and everything works great now.

Post Same issues

Yeah, had the same problem after I screwed with it for a while and came on here, then I replaced the blub. Well If you shove it too far in you can have a problem like mine were it will stay lit constantly (not blinking). I loosened the light so it was comfortable in the light connection and not shoved into it and it worked fine.

The plug is corroded because the housing is leaking it happens to all of us

I replaced both of my housings and one socket and they are a lot brighter and work every time now and stay dry inside

disconnect your battery, take the lightbulb out of the socket. get that **** girls use to remove they're nail paint, and a Q-tip. dip the q-tip in that liquid, and clean out the inside of the socket. i used to replace light bulbs every few months. haven't had a problem since october.

Happened to 2 out of the 3 T/A's I've had. I would just replace the socket and be done with it.

X2! I did the same, got them from ebay and never had the problem again. Same exact problem the housing was leaking and corroding it.

Use an O-ring pick and scrape the corrosion out of the socket.

Put dielectric grease in the socket.

The dielectric grease works, my bulbs have been in for two years now.

The is the best and most efficient solution what ever you do it's still corroded
And the problem will still come back.

Where in the world did you get a housing for $8 I have been trying forever to find one, Autozone, Discount, Advance, Napa all don't have it or they are close to 40.00. 78 if you get it from GM. Please o please let me know that is not a misprint...

So far I cannot find a socket for the lights that is below 40.00. I refuse to pay that much without at least trying to afro engineer the problem.

Neither of my lights were working. So I pulled one socket and housing. Attached are the pictures of what I found. You can see the clear housing is in rather bad shape. I already ordered new ones ($20 per on eBay)(photos: 0560,0561,0562)

Went to Autozone, bought the $5 can of electric connector cleaner and $4 can of grease. Went to town with the cleaner and a handful of q-tips. I know its no substitute for a new socket but o well. (Photo: 0565)

I had to use a piece of .005 brass shim stock for the passenger side because the connector was so badly corroded it wasn't hitting.

They both work now. (Photo: 0567)

Like I said i know its a temp fix...

So total investment $20 (includes bulbs and q-tips)

This next paycheck is the taillamp housing and sockets...

the socket can be found at autozone for like 8 bucks, Dorman P/n 85881.
No need to splice wires, just replace the socket (clean off the wire terminals when you remove the old socket).

How do you remove the old socket without splicing the wires? I got two of the dorman 85881's in my trunk, just waiting to install them. I looked over the old socket and thought that I'd have to splice the new sockets in.
