Default Anyone run drag radials on Convo pros?

I am going to be running drag radials primarily this year at the track.

I am looking at putting a set of P275/50R-15 DRs on my 15 x 7.5 Convo pros.

Here is a pic :

Anyone use a similar size tire?

Sizing chart for rim width is fine but I was concerned about rubbing the tires.

I have spacers but was planning to sell them. I'll keep them if I need them hehe

Thanks in advance
Chris

We ran the exact setup with no spacers. 275/50-15 BFG drag radials on 7.5 convo pro. fit fine with no problems. We actually pulled our best 60' time ever with that setup. 1.508. Great combo for driving and racing, but it just wasnt always consistent on the launch.

Great thanks!

I wont be hitting 1.50 at our tracks with the six speed but anything under a 1.78 or so would be great

what tire pressure did you find best?

thanks!

We ran right around 15psi cold. sometimes near 14.5psi. Good luck, our 1.50 was of course with an auto.

i ran the same size rim and tire ( NITTO ) and they only hooked about 20% of the time The tire is actually too big for a 7 1/2 rim. it does not lay flat it is too round. My suggestion would be a 8 1/2 convo or try the BFG on the 7 1/2 .i had a few 1.65-1.70 sixty fts but most were in the 1.80 GOOD LUCK

Thanks

I already have the convos in 7.5 so I guess I'll try the BFG

Going to order the tires this weekend.

I ran a 275/50/15 BFG DR on an 8.5" Convo Pro, and it fit absolutely perfect. No spacers needed whatsoever, and it didn't rub anywhere.

We would sell you our set real cheap with plenty of tread left, except the whole shipping from texas to toronto thing.

Cool thanks everyone

Yeah I think I think shipping from Texas to Toronto would be fairly hefty

PM me a price though, maybe we can work something out.

Man like Lynda said...they're great for driving and racing, but they are inconsistant. One pass 1.56 next pass 1.68 then 1.57 and sometimes 1.71 and you just never know. I love them for just playing at the track, but for serious racing heads up. They can let you down. Lynda send me an email bhogan@scrtc.com and send a pic of the DR's I could use some more. Thanks

I would only be using them to help me hook on the shifts. (I am spinning all through second into third gear) I'll be launching fairly conservatively to save the rear. (About 3500-4000rpm)

this is the exact reason that i was useing them but it didnt help save the rear. i broke an axle shaft in the finals at a race here in texas. let me know how it goes.

I have been running a set of those tires on my 10" Welds.
N.A. They hooked well. With the blower they don't stand a chance.
But they are not to bad once the car is rolling. I got caught in a big rain storm once with them on the highway. Very scary

dont it suck that a M6 car has no remorse what so ever for the stock 10 bolt. its like there is noway around getting a 12 bolt.

1. if you use any kind of sticky tires, it will break.

2. use street tires and you will never grab until 3rd gear or so.

3. use good tires and take off easy to save the rear and then you 60s suck.

4. get a 12 bolt and leave hard out of the hole to get good 60s and then goes the clutch.

5. fix your clutch and then the driveshaft explodes.

6. ect,ect

no remorse what so ever. i am still dealing with the same problem, just building more power and ignoreing everything else. i am wondering if i would of gone faster if i just spend my money on a 12, clutch and DS instead of a iron motor, cam, bolt ones, and heads. now i am out of money and still got every thing stock from the flywheel on back. damit this sux.

On the street I run a BFG 275/60-15 on a 15x7.5 convo pro. They fit well, but didn't help my traction issue
