Default weld in muffler

I have a welded Flowmaster and want something different. I was thinking about just getting a 3 inch center inlet/outlet muffler, welding it in place of the Flowmaster, and having the exhaust out of the driver's side or a turn down before the rear bumper. Has anyone done this, is a good idea, or should i just spend the money on a catback?

Sure you can do it.. If its stock manifolds and cats I would cut it off and toss on a Flowmaster 1 chamber.
