Default 4L80e bolt pattern

Hi guys;
I'm running a 4l80e behind a blown BBC (540). Purchased from a well known race trans builder. I'm fairly happy with it and its standing up pretty well (putting about 800 hp through it) 9.50's @ 145, about 175 passes on it and about 5000 street miles.
I'd like to pick up another one (cheap) to try building it up myself, learn something and maybe have a spare.
My question is;
do they all have the same bellhousing and bolt pattern on them ?
ie; could I use one that was behind a different engine or do I need to stick with one from a BBC ?
I've also heard that some are more desireable than others ie; ones from motorhomes or bigger trucks have straight cut (stronger) gears in the planetaries. Can someone fill me in on this ?
TIA
