the white peice is there but it has a groove cut in it...I know that it is supposed to be pushed "in" does that mean in toward the transmission or the two halves in toward each other...and does the orange peices stay in the transmission?

That groove is supposed to be there, Take two flat tip screwdrivers, and push on the outside edges of that plastic ring, there is a flat portion to do this, Push the ring in evenly on both sides, push straight in, dont try to push them towards each other, Just straight in, then it will slide in and release the metal fingers inside the hose retainer. Kinda like a fuel line only you already have the plastic piece in the clutch line.. Hope this helps.

I used an old windshield wiper arm removal tool in pinch - worked great
