Turning my car into a drag car, but still want a nice clean look to it, not a hack job.

I was wondering what you guys are doing for dashes? Are you keeping the stock one? Or fab a sheet metal one?

My whole project is removing the stock stuff, and saving it...incase years down the road I want to put it back, or sell it with that stuff...so I don't like the idea of drilling and hacking into everything. Plus I figured if I had a different dash (and cheap) I could mount everything how/where I want it

Most guys keep the stock dash or at least the shell of it

VFN makes a fiberglass version too. I think sheet metal dash boards look horrific.

^^THAT is exactly what I want! I have the parts laying around, just need to put it all together. Should I spend the coin on the light weight carpet, or just get some of that "outdoor" carpet from home depot like some guys use? Any issues with heat with open headers? I'm thinking about maybe an aluminum center counsel and putting some gages and nitrous switches there? Don't want to hack up the stocker

Im keeping the factory shell, looked into building a fabbed aluminum dash but for the weight it would save it wasnt worth it at this point, I am going to ditch the center console though and use a B&M ratchet shifter.

I just got the Hurst Quarter Stick. I might just ditch the center counsel also, maybe just fab up a aluminum panel for extra gages and switches

Made my own cf dash. Looks identical to the stock one. One picture in this thread:

That cf dash is awesome! How much does that weigh compared to a stock dash?

Stock gutted and chopped up dash was around 7#. I dont know the weight of a stock one not cut all apart. The cf one is approximately 2# and could probably be less if I hadn't added core to strength it and then clear to make it have a nice gloss finish.
