Default torque arm bolts torque specs, moser 12 and bmr ta

ive heard sooo much bs about the TA bolts backing out when your running a BMR TA with a Moser 12 bolt, along with several different ways to "solve" the problem, along with people saying there's no solution.

what are yalls experience and what are you running to stop it from happening? lock tite, lock washers etc. and what are you torquing the bolts to? how often do you re-torque?

im putting it on my DD tomorrow and id prefer it to be as maintenance free as possible, along with reliable.

mine backed out 3 years ago. I had the bolt holes retapped and they put in bolts from a 9" and i havent had any problems since. the bolts the tq arm are regular bolts that have a separate lock washer. The bolts i have on there now are the ones that have a flanged head. Since i changed out those bolts they have been fine ever since.

I have a Spohn torque arm and a Moser 12 bolt. My bolts backed out SEVERAL times. I put on a lock washer/flat washer and loaded them up with Loctite. I then managed to interweve a breaker bar above the rear end and put some serious ft-lbs on the upper bolts. They have been holding ever since.

i had mine in there to 100 ft-lbs and red loctite... they still backed out and i broke my TQ Arm mount, driveshaft slip yoke, ring gear, and now that i got all that fixed, my tru-trac is clunking in parking lots.

i was re-checking the torque every couple weeks... which obviously wasnt often enough. as soon as i get the chance, i'm going to have them welded to the torque arm mount.

I fabbed up bushings and used correct hardware. Torque to spec and never had a problem since 05. I have used a SLP and Spohn tq arm. I have contacted BMR on the problem and a solution. They turned it down. Its a obvious problem and fix. Maybe UMI will take the idea and sell it as a Moser install kit for 12 bolts.

well ive run a tap through the holes to clean them out, and ive got Grade 8 hardware, 2 bolts are 1.5 inch and 2 are 1.75, all 4 have a flat washer and a lock washer so i guess ill Loctite the and torque the f**k out of em and see what happens.

6']['9 if wouldnt mind can you give a little more detail on what exactly you did? im pretty sure i know what your saying but a little more info would be helpful.

got the old 10 bolt out, and discovered that the factory brake lines dont mate to the Wilwood brakes. also discovered that my dumbass forgot to get bigger sway bar brackets cuz the o.d. of the 12 bolt is bigger. dammit.

i took it to a gear place & they did it. Originally the bolt that comes with the tq arm bracket has 2 regular bolts. I told them what was happening cause i broke 2 of those brakets. This time the head of the bolt broke off so they took it out. Helicoiled it and installed 2 bolts from a 9" the bolts have a flathead design on them kinda like the ones you get off your heads. where the bottom is flanged out. They used some loctite and its been fine ever since.

Perhaps because i am a big guy, but i never had issues with mime, i just used some lok tite and used my gorilla strength to bolt it in and i have been beating on it for over a year, laubching at 6000 at the track, pulling tires and i have not had any issues, every nw and then i look under there and see if i can feel if they are loose, i have a Spohn TQ arm.

Drill the heads of the bolts and safety wire them?

Saw your car in person for the first time at Los Cucos meet last weekend Zane, not a show stopper but you pedal'd it three times trying to leave hahahaha I dig it.

I just used a paint pen to mark the bolt heads so I can look and see if theyve moved.

The holes in the TA are too big for the bolts. Make or have made some bushings AND safety wire the bolts!

LOL, yea man, it is not meant for show, it is meant to get down. Finally found a Honda that runs good out there, LOL.

I actually thought about welding a small piece of steel to the bolts if i had to.

I think if it comes to it ill saftey wire em and have a machine shop drill the holes. well see though, I think my TA will be under a more substantial amount of stress the next time its prowling the streets.
