Default Getting a 98 Z28. Couple pics...

I signed up on the sight over 3 years ago, but just now finally purchased my 1st LS1 car. It's a 98 Z28 that is stock besides 4.10 gears, Borla catback, and some free mods. Unfortunatly it's an auto trans. Picked up the car for what I feel was a good price, and I'm considering it to be my LS1 "demo". If I end up liking the LS1 platform I'd like to upgrade to a 6 speed WS6 or SS. So, not going to do many mods to this car, because either way I don't plan on keeping it for more than a year. Just getting my feet wet. I've always been a Chevy muscle car guy, and currently have an 81 Camaro and 71 Chevelle. This computer driven car is going to be a learning experience!

Anyways, a few pics....

nice whip. look around at z-mods, i wouldnt trade my z28 for an ss or ws6 anyday, its just a cosmetic diff anyway. put a nice yank stall in that trans and u will swear off manuals! "manuals impress high school kids, autos win races!" Nice ride!

Congrats, you will love the LS1. I am also an old school GM guy, but have spent the last few years trying to learn the new stuff. This site is excellent training.

Get a scanner so you can see what's going on. If you know how vacuum advance and accelerator pumps work, you will find the data fascinating.

I actually prefer hardtops over t-top or convertable. Just my personnal preference. If I'm lucky I make it to the track once a year. I'd like a 6 speed just for the "fun" factor. Previous owner ran 8.53 @ 83 & 13.26 in the 1/4 before the exhaust and some free mods. Car hasn't been tuned for the gears yet either.

Have you seen the car in person? I bought it sight unseen!

Having it shipped from Holly Springs. The guy I bought it from only had it about a month. He did the gear swap and exhaust.

Don't happen to have a link or know the user name of who had it for sale here, do you?

nice car.
from a performance stand point i would keep what you got.
a good stall and the usual boltons will get you very close if not in the 11's.
my car is a 98 with lt's.p&p tb and maf, lid, ftra and a custom exhaust and im in the mid 12's so with a stall im real close to 11's.

Thanks for the compliments. The car has 103k miles on it. That's another reason why I'd like to upgrade to something else. We'll see though, it seems many people run these ls1's way past 100k before doing a rebuild?
