So im droppin the motor and tranny, and im to the point where im takin out the driveshaft. now i put the car in neutral, but i did that after i uninstalled the battery and tranny lines, and the driveshaft wont spin at all. rear wheels are off the ground and hand brake is off. what am i doing wrong? do i need to put the car in park, then reconnect the battery, and then put the car in neutral? the pcm is disconnected, does that matter? thanks for the help.

Should spin freely if in neutral, ebrake is off and tires are not touching ground. There will be some drag and might not be able to turn driveshaft by hand. Grab the tire and turn it till you get where you need to be

haha, i know thats whats supposed to happen. the problem is even when i spin the tire, the ds still isnt moving. do i need to spin both rims in the same direction to get the ds to move??

Like stated, you should be able to turn it in neutral, by hand. If you can't, stick a screwdriver in the DS yoke and use that as leverage.

If this is the case, then your rear is gone.

Just take the torque arm off, and then you should be able to get to the top bolts on the DS

yea thats what i was gonna do as last resort. actually might be better, since i need to detach torque arm from the tranny anyways.

ok, so my buddy figured out. i disconnected the shift selector cable, so the car was still in park. once we changed it, the driveshaft rotated easily.

It is possible for the DS to remain still when one wheel spins forward and one spins backward.

Yes, if it has an open(one wheel peel) carrier. If it is posi and it does this, then the posi is bad.

so what ur sayin is if the car is in neutral and the tires spin and the d/s doesnt, then the posi is bad?? or does that also apply if the car is in park?

for whatever reason i thought one went forward and one went back when i spun my torsen with no d/s.

Thats what mine dose and my rear end is stock as a rock and never been touched. I had to spin both tiers in the same direction to get the D/S to turn. That and i layed under my car one day playing with it when i got board after putting on my new torque arm. LOL
