Default A4 and 4.11's

I am switching from 3.23's to 4.11's and I'm wondering how much of a gain do you think I'll see and what size tires and RPM's you guys that have this setup are going through the traps at.

I'm new to this Board so thanks for any input.

Unless you are trying to use OD, on 26.5" tires, most A4 cars will turn some insane revs by the end of the quarter with 4.11's.

You will need taller tires, or a really high rev limit with the valve train to match. I stuck with 3.73's on my '94 and if I spray it, (100 shot) I bump the rev limiter. Otherwise, I'm going through at ~5400-5500.

I am using 26" ET streets now and the limiter is set at 6400.
It would'nt bother me to go to 27 or 28" ET streets if I have to.

I ran 4.11's + A4, and you can hook it on 26's.

What cam are you running, what converter, and what shiftpoints?

I think you will see et reduction, I can't speculate, but a gain of 2mph.

You are going to have a big gear off the line it will also come down to whether you can hook it.

I'm thinking 11.3@120mph.

I have a comp 226/226 on a 112, TCS 4,000 stall, shifting at 6,300

thinking about going to a bigger cam (have a forged bottom end)

I think I can get it to hook I was more worried about running out of mph up top.

Thanks for the help.

An old user, Top Fuel, used to race at US41 with me, and he had the same cam and the same size stall and went 11.19@121mph at 3300 raceweight with 3.73's.

I shifted my car at 6400-6600 and I don't recall what I ran thru the traps but if you shift at 6300 you will want the rev limiter at 6500 to be safe.

I would leave the cam you have, that's a great cam, I bet some gear would help.

I'm shooting for 10.99,Need to put he car on a diet.

Do you think 27" or 28" tires will help any?

I will double check on the limiter at 6500

Thanks again .

I went 11.5@116mph with low shift points with h, cam, converter and a 4.10 gear. I bet I could have went 11.3 easily. This was before the days of LS1 Edit.

What is your raceweight? I would go no bigger than 27's, though i will tell you that veteran 8 second racers that i know feel that M/Ts' work better than Hoosiers.

If it were me I'd run 26x10.5x15 ET Drags on 15x10's and get the raceweight around 3250.
