Default VS a 2007 mustang gt shelby 500

I have a buddy that had a 2008 mustang gt 5 speed (was pretty quick for a 4.6) and I was able to beat it on my stock 1998 camaro z28 A4 running a 13.6 on a 1/4 and he running a 13.7 so he decided he wanted more power and when a traded his 2008 gt for a 2007 shelby and wow that a nice car a is FAST. I had being thinkin about buying a new car (something new and faster) but I'm just thinkin 2 build my camaro insited of buying me something new. I want 2 build me an engine to hold a good supercharge and maybe make it an M6, what should I be looking for on building my car? Any ideas I want 2 be able to take on that shelby 500. I know it's not going to be easy and going to take some money. Thanks for any ideas

Buy a 2011 GT then add slicks and bolt-ons.. Then pray your friend doesn't do the same.

H/C, converter, sticky tire and your done. I ran a GT 500 a while back and killed it. The guy sucked at driving!! He told me he ran 11.0 @120 with slicks, but that night his best run was low 13's@113. I almost choked trying not to laugh out loud when he went out of his way to come tell me what he ran on slicks and that his car made 600whp.

I'm not trying to buy a new car tho (i thought about buying 1) but I rather put all that money that I would spend on a new car and make me a mean camaro! And just the way I like it! And I'm more of a chevy guy, I would drive that shelby but I wouldn't spend over 40 grand to do so! (i think my friend said he's going to be payin 44,000 total) that's to much ohh I believe that car can do the 11 seconds if it had a good driver. The only thing my friends shelby got is a better pully for the suprecharger
