Default Can dealership void warranty on cats with mods?

I need new cats and they are still under warranty. I have shorty edelbrock headers installed (which are 50 state legal), but I don't want to take it in and have them tell me they are not going to cover the repair. Has anybody gone through this? How did it go - did the dealers give any crap over any mods or what? Any input is appreciated.

383 stroker?? I would say it depends on the dealer. Worst case scenario you can pick up a pair out of the parts classifieds. I know I have a pair collecting dust in basement for the past 3 years.

If I don't tell them its a 383, I dont think there is much room for them to suspect it. Especially with stock cats and stock y-pipe.

I wouldn't even bother but the emissions guys near here are so **** about making sure the cats are there. They give me crap every year about the gmmg catback (cause its loud) and the shorty headers. It would be nice to have a new set of cats from GM to have to ensure I pass year after year, instead of buying a used set and worrying about them having issues. Free is better than paying. And in between emissions time if I happen to swap back to a ory pipe, who could blame me.

I heard about a guy who had a cat that went bad and he went to get it repaired at a GM dealer and they wouldn't touch it because he had an aftermarket cat-back exhaust. Their excuse was the lack of backpressure on the system might have dislodged something in the cat. Right...

Hell yes they can deny the warranty.
You have changed the exhaust manifolds.
Done. Case closed.

its a business, if there is any grey area...they arent covering it. Now you might get lucky, and find a dealership that would cover it, but its not required since you have made modifications (even if they are shorties).
