Default Ford 8.8 spider gears question

Does anyone know if I can swap a set of 28 spline spider gears into a 31 spline 8.8 rear from an F150? I know the 31 splines are stronger, but I'd like to reuse my factory axles for now and just swap axle tubes. If not, I guess I'll break down and buy a set of axles, but if it's possible, this would get me going much quicker. Thoughts?

It looks like from what I've read on the internet that I need to find some 28 spline spiders from a posi. Anyone have what I need? I got the rearend for free. If I can swap the spiders and use my axles and tubes, I can do the fab work and do this super cheap.

Well it looks like 28 spline carriers have 3/4" pins and the 31 spline carriers have 7/8" pins. So just swapping the spiders gears doesn't look like it will work. I think I should just swap a 28 spline posi unit in and call it good.
