Muffler Question

Muffler Question
I did a 01 5.3l swap in a 99 grand cherokee recently and am disappointed with the way it sounds. It had a 4.0l I6 with a full 2.5" exhaust, no cat and a magnaflow muffler. It had a nice rumble and was on the loud side, sounded nice for a 4.0l.
Now because of space restrictions with the 5.3l it is 2 1/4" until the y-pipe and the rest is the same old exhaust as before. It's quieter the a stock GM truck with a LS V8.
What can I put on this thing for a muffler to make it bark a bit but not crackly, raspy type of loud?

Not going to make much different to change the muffler or pipe.. the two engine are different in may way and exhaust tone and noise coming out of the two engine are just different (Cam profile and just engine dynamic).
Even with my 5.7L LS1 and using Full Length Headers, 2 1/2" Pipe with a H Pipe and 40's Flowmasters.. I just doesn't sound like my old school hot rods ! (mostly due to the CAM profiles I guess)

Single 3'' from the Y back with a high flow cat and a Magnaflow would sound great IMO. It wouldn't be too loud and you'd get a great tone. Nice and deep with the 3''. Put a little Z06/LPE Gt2-3 cam in there, headers, z06 intake. That'd be a sweet ride.
