Default Houston area head porting

Is there anybody here in town that you guys recommend to port a set of 243 heads for a stock 5.7 running NA? I have been going back and forth between ported 243 heads and AFR's. Budget wise, I have decided to go with porting the 243's. Also, what is a reasonal price for an NA port job? I was thinking around 800-1000? Is that reasonable?

Also, what HP gain would you expect on an ls6 with a high 23X/intake, low 24X exhaust-113 cam?

My car is going in the shop tomorrow for the the same cam 3 friends have, and it is has made 436rwhp(cutouts, mn6, ls1), 424rwhp(mn6, ls1), 419rwhp(auto, ls1).

My goal is to go 10's in my car. I figure that I will need 450-460rwhp, and a 1.5-1.55 60ft, and around 124mph trap to have a shot. Thanks, guys.

Brian, it was today for wiring my cutouts. My car goes in to England Green tomorrow for the cam install, and we are heading out to HRP the 21st to see what it runs. I'll ben running full street trim and 18 inch DR's. I'm on my 3rd rear end(2 RPM built ones) so I will be launching the car softly(high 1.7's). I have 2 sets of ET streets with a softer sidewall to help the shock on launch for the fall. I just want to see what MPH it puts down with the high DA.

Who installs my heads is really going to come down to price and turn around time.

I just need to make sure that I have somebody experienced porting 241/243's for what I am trying to do with my car.

Thanks,

Mark

Yeah, I broke the first one here. Stock gears, good air. First freaking pass of the night. I had just put in a spec 3 clutch witch doesn't slip like an ls6 or ls7 clutch. I let the clutch out too fast, bad driving, but I didn't expect 1 pass to break the car. I have gotten the car down to high 1.6's on 18's with headers and CAI, but the rear is taking a beating with 18 inch tires and a big shock. I can slip the car a little, then it bites hard after the initial slip. So I have to go to 16 inch tires with more cushion for the pushin!

No, I am not running the car after the 21st. I am just seeing what it does with the cam for the fall. But, The car is not my daily driver, but I do drive it daily when I get home from work and the weather is nice. So I don't want it down for an extended period of time, simply because I enjoy driving the car. Thanks!

Yeah, then I had a built RPM one put in, and screwed that one up too.

Thanks guys. Can anybody give me specifics on what needs to be done to a 243 head for my application? I'm going to call some machine shops.

We have several different options for port work on the 243s that will meet your goal as well as your budget. You can give me a call at the shop at (713)504-8746 if you have other questions

TSP does quite a few heads if you're willing to ship cross-state.
