One thing to consider before ordering this rear is your long term goals. I am now regreting that I chose the S60 due to the limited gear sets that are available. I would very much like the option of a 3.2X or even a 3.0X gear in order to lower my trap RPM. Unfortunately, 3.55 is as close a ratio as you can get so that's what I am stuck with. Other than that, I couldn't be happier with it. I have hundreds of low 1.3 60's on mine and it's the one component that I NEVER worry about when I hang the front tires.
Also, I highly recommend the 35 spline TruTrack posi in it. It feels totally stock. No clunking like associated with a Locker and it's way stronger than the 31 spline version that is available for the 9".

Breaking gears is not an option in this rear end. No matter which gear set he chooses. Being an M6, the 4.30 gear would likely be your best choice. The slower wheel speed will help you launch.

Well with my 4.56 at 70mph the rpm is about 2100 in 6th gear. a little high for a 5 hour drive but not to bad. i would a least do the 4.10s. when i had 4.10s rpms where like 18 to 1900 rpm. but you still get that acceration you want in the first four gears. and mite as well get the 35 splines
