Default Dilemma. . . .Should I stay or should I go?

So im currently rebuilding my 4L60E, I bought a 3200 stall for it, to go with a 230/224 111 lsa and some 5.3l heads. so one of my friends has a manual that wants to swap me. i am paying for the rebuild (around $500) and then the install of the auto into his car (around $700), and he was gonna pay me for the stall. And to save money i was gonna install the manual in my car myself. i daily drive my car and rarely go to the track, so drivability and mpg are a concern for me. should i swap to a manual or stick with a stalled auto?

I think it all depends on what you want to do with the car. As you probably know the auto is a lot more consistent at the track and a little easier on the rear end. I would say you're going to get better times at the track with a stalled auto compared with the regular M6 guy on slicks. Of course there are plenty of fast M6 guys that can launch like hell too but I would still say it's easier with an auto. I personally love having the manual trans and wouldn't ever go to an auto but then again that's more because I'm hardly ever at the track. I enjoy being able to decide what exact gear I want and when plus it just seems more fun to me to row the gears. Everyone is going to have their own opinion though.

i recently bought a 02 z28 w/ m6 and love it. of course this isnt my daily driver tho. here in virginia beach we have plenty of bumper to bumper, so i prefer a auto for a dd. if u do swap tho, i wouldnt pay to install in his car.

ya, i wouldnt trade unless its an even up, both paying the same, kinda deal

but as stated, m6 is more fun, but can get annoying if you really love auto... a4 is going to be faster, more consistent, and easier on the car, however, autos are for pussies :2 cents: (im not changing it cuz there really should be a 2 cents smiley like on thirdgen.org.. i mean that site sucks and they even have a 2 cents smiley!)
