Advanced Engineering Tech - HELP! cylinders 2,4,6,8 are dead

I recently blew the driver side head gasket on my 383 ls1. I changed both head gaskets had the heads shaved(machinist took .012 off) and put comp hydraulic lifters in as well. I had the engine out as well due to a broken bolt nightmare. I got the job complete and the car is running horrible, overloading with fuel and backfiring. On the passenger side the headers stay cold on all 4 cylinders, you can unplug all the injectors and ignition harness on that side and it will not change the way it runs. It has spark and fuel on these cylinders, i already checked that. I cannot figure out what I did because the car ran great it just had an overheating issue before i started all this. Any ideas good or bad would be greatly appreciated.

You should of pulled the pistons while you had it apart, bet the rings are stuck on the pistons............do a leak down test or atleast a comp. test, check pushrod length, maybe .012 milling was too much for the pushrods? good luck

If you are still using the 98 coils and valve covers then you have put the coils on backwards. From the brief description I'm sure you are, as the backfiring is a dead giveaway. Remove the coils from the passengers side, flip them around end for end, and reinstall.

It holds compression and the ignition coils were never removed from the valve covers when taken off. i just unpluged the main ignition harness. both heads were shaved the same so if it was the pushrods why would one side fire but not the other. Not trying to be a smart ass just putting out what i have already done so i can be helped cuz i have been all over that engine and cannot figure it out.

I will try flipping the ignition harness over, my little brother was helping and it is possible he took it off and put it back without me knowing. He has good intentions but not much experience.
