i have a 2000 LS1 camaro and 1996 LT1 impala SS both need AC compressors, what do you think do i just rebuild the AC compressors i have or buy NEW ones?

if to rebuild them do you have links on how to rebuild them? and where from to get rebuild kits for each compressor?

the AC compressor in the camaro has no pressure to pressurize the 134 AC gas so does that mean the pistons need to be replaced? do i need to go with bigger pistons and to hone the pistons holes in the compressor?

last question, do you know how to flush clean the AC system pipes and such?

i know very little about AC compressors, so i need experienced persons to help.

I have never heard of anyone ever rebuilding their own compressor. . . . . Your best bet of course is new OEM. . . . . but for the buck I would just buy a reman and cross my fingers. . . . .As far as cleaning the system, I have heard from people on here that it is done with brake cleaner. Sounds like it should work, yet I have never had to flush a system myself.

...once the AC is opened it becomes contaminated with moister and a vacumn pump is needed to pump down the system, remove moister and then add a freash charge of freon.

When I opened my system last, I also replaced the drier/accumulator which is a good idea when ever the system has been opened.

You can rebuild them but I doubt it is worth the trouble.

GET A NEW GM COMPRESSOR. I have tried remans and they all suck+fail.

F body ones aren't cheap but will last so much longer.

I have had good luck with reman compressors. I usually get them from someone reputable on ebay. Sure, they likely wont last as long as a new GM unit but they are sometimes only 1/4 the price so who gives a ****.

Seen something else cool on eGay. A complete kit with everything, o rings, PAG Oil, receiver drier, orifice tube and a new compressor for 329 Bucks. . . . Damn that is cheap.
